An AMP-activated protein kinase activator studied as an exercise mimetic in animals, with limited human infusion studies.

What research shows

AICAR is one of the most used laboratory activators of AMPK, and that identity is well documented in a systematic review. Disease model evidence, such as fatty liver improvement, comes from mice. Human administration as acadesine is described in review literature, but we verified no controlled human efficacy trial.
